Easy Fit Pant
The first class will focus on learning to measure yourself and then some simple pattern alterations to
get the fit you want. We’ll also discuss style considerations and the meaning of pattern ease as it
applies to pants. The pattern we uses a drawstring to close the waist, but I’ll show how you can easily
make it an elastic waist if you prefer. Homework for this session includes cutting your fabric and
gathering your notions.
*Note: you will not need to bring your sewing machine for this session.
We’ll construct the pants during the second session of class. You’ll learn how to sew side seam pockets
or patch pockets, create a casing for elastic or drawstring, and even learn to make your own drawstring.
Make the pants in any length you choose. At the end of class, we’ll discuss how to make simple
changes to the pattern to create many looks!
