Knit Pants Class
Knit pants have become almost as much a wardrobe staple as jeans, and they’re so easy to fit and sew for yourself! They can be made as tight as leggings or as full as trousers, all of them stylish and practical. For this class, we’ll work with the pants pattern included with Simplicity S9228, which includes an elastic waistband, side seam pockets, and a slim leg.
Skills learned in this class include taking measurements, fitting a knit pants pattern to your figure, working with bottom weight knits, seam and hem finishes, and tips to manage the bulk of an elastic casing waistband. We will also discuss future options for altering the pattern into many different styles, from leggings to joggers. The first class with focus on fitting the pattern, then we sew the pants in the second class.
This class is part of my Core Four series of essential wardrobe builders. Along with a knit T-shirt, woven drawstring pants, and a pop-over tunic, these four classes provide the basics for any me-made wardrobe. These basic patterns provide endless opportunities for customizing to create different styles and features. All that’s needed is your sewing machine, some basic skills and a little inspiration. Come have fun!
